MOUNT CALCINAIOASTRONOMICAL OBSERVATORY
The structure, located on a hill at 732 meters above sea level, will represent a major scientific, educational, and cultural hub. The area was chosen because of its isolation, lack of trees, and distance from any light pollution, making it a natural observation point for exploring the sky, stars, planets, and infinite space. It is easily accessible from the major cities of Rome and Florence, making it strategically positioned for astronomy enthusiasts.
This scientific facility will serve as both a gathering place and a reference point for the dissemination and understanding of physics, stars, and astronomy, providing yet another reason to visit and appreciate the land that hosts it.
The telescope installed within the Observatory was constructed by the Italian company Telescopi Italiani. It is a telescope characterized by great lightness and maneuverability, capable of capturing a wide field in the sky, allowing the observation of objects such as galaxies and nebulae that are not observable with amateur telescopes.
Ideal for astrotourism, it is also used in some scientific research, such as the observation of exoplanets, variable stars, and transient phenomena such as high-energy explosions in the galaxy. It is a cutting-edge tool in applied technologies that will enable the Monte Calcinaio Observatory to attract curious enthusiasts and professionals alike.
